Well modesty forbids with regard to Rock Goes to College, on the basis that I booked, cajoled and arranged some of the acts, so I'd better say OGWT, and I wish there were still programmes around like that today - don't even mention Later With Jools, as it's become a personal hobby for him lo insert his dreadful boogie-woogie piano into Z-list crud. Oh, and Bob OR Annie, they both CARED. * +

That's probably because it was at a time when women were still pushing against the glass ceiling - the only way to get ahead in a male-dominated world was to approximate a males delivery (also why a lot of female MP's had very deep voices). Hopefully those days, if not passed, are passing. * +

agree. Except for the act booking bit obv. Whispering Bob and Annie, are in that small group of djs for whom the music is the most important thing. Not the sound of their own voice, not the fame, the music. They are passionate about music. just like John Peel was, just like Tommy Vance was. * +
