ur rite in everything u said but that everyone knows it it's where ur wrong, moreover u were referring to hip hop in the narrow sense of the word whereas the word can be more broad. * +

ok, so explain the more broad use of the term hip hop and all it encompasses. Hip hop to me means a genre of music. Apparently you can have a hip hop lifestyle too? But what does that entail? Wearing gold chains and shooting people? * +

in its broad sense hip hop includes rapping as one of its elements which makes it more than just a genre of music if we consider all other elements. the elements of hip hop are: 1. Break dancing 2. Rapping 3. Graffiti art 4. DJing 5. Beatboxing 6. Street fashion 7. Street Language 8. Street Knowledge 9. Street Entrepreneurialism. * +

not necessarily. u have to look at the bigger picture, for instance a person who is rapping is making music and may decide to feature someone to sing the chorus for him or may do the chorus himself. the music he's making is hip hop and not the rapping. like someone said in the first page he thought hip hop was only the music. yes hip hop is the music but only in the narrow sense of the word, hip hop is more broad. * +
