Indeed they do, and often hauntingly beautiful to boot - for a contemporary reference point, check out the awesome guqin playing of Liu Li whilst Sky and Nameless dream-battle in the film 'Hero', although the entire score by Tan Dun is worthy of note and gives a good insight into an elegant and ancient musical form. *
