My nephew bought a midi keyboard for about 55 pound and got ableton with it.its a stripped down version of the the stripped down version which cost about 400.anyway,he kindly gave of the disc to install it onto my laptop as he knows what a big fan of music i am, he's using the midi keyboard supplied whereas i use the QWERTY keyboard.it took a while but i'm slowly learning.so far I've learnt.... * +

...to record and playback,I've used my own voice in a demo track provided meaning i can make my track and add vocals lol,I've also looked at playing parts of demo tracks, also how to take samples and block it together to try make a tune and finally i ended last night trying to create my own beats.being an avid trance, electro, techno, hardhouse dj/fan I've been mucking about with sum beats.need more.. * +

I've been using live 7 for a while, I'm on live 8 now. It does take a while to learn, but it's worth it. I've got a copy of live lite I got with an audio interface, gonna install it on my netbook tomorrow. As far as I know it's pretty much the same program, it just misses off some of the effects, and some control bits. I'll let you know how they compare tomorrow! I'm still learning myself, but * +

I'm gonna try and get a track released soon, just tidying it up a little. * +

It's also good to use to dj, have a look on my mates site electronomist.co.uk he has a tutorial that explains how to warp mp3s so you can beat match them easily, add effects, or even do live tracks in your mixes! Look at djs like giuseppe ottaviani, he has a nice midi keyboard and laptop in his dj setup! * +

Right what versions can be used for dj'ing?in fact I'l make this easier,i'm currently about to installed the update to live lite 7-(8 audio/midi, more effects etc) what can the lite version do?i been told i cant save none of my work, which seems right as it tells me that when i try certain things.like playing demos or making my own tunes it'll say 'saving not available in demo mode' * +
