Sound quality depends on bitrate of mp3, e.g how it works is the lower the bitrate they cut out the highest treble and lowest bass, nothing can change the quality of the mp3, no speaker or media player, so just be happy ur fone can play mp3s in da first place.. 
best quality mp3 for cell is 64 not sacrificing space, the higher the bitrate the more space it uses.. * +

btw, in my experience, the normal player plays better than these cr*p mp3 players, even iTunes doesn't play better... but that's just me! * +
