Aren't they amazing? I still can't figure out how the flask knows if it's hot or cold stuff you've put in it! * +

Somewhere i still got the one my parents used for holidays it weighs a ton. Its a large flask that holds 3 plastic cups in side the lid. Plus if you unscrew the bottom you will find a little glass milk bottle inside it. * +

It uses a vacuum that has no air in it preventing cold air from entering keeping things hot or hot air entering keeping things cold * +

But hot or cold air can't get into a jam jar with the lid on, but it won't work as a thermos. I mean air can't pass through glass, so I don't get this hot or cold air prevention theory * +

Surely some kind of voodoo is involved? * +

Can you get vacuums that do have air in them? I've noticed they're very shiny inside. Maybe the hot or cold air is reflected?,I just don't know. Where about in the thermos is the vacuum with no air? * +

It's not air passing through the glass, it's heat. Heat can't pass through a vacuum * +

So the vacuum is between the liquid and the outside * +
