So I backed up my phone yesterday, it was full and I needed to get the iOS 7.1.2 update so I imported my pics to iPhoto so those are safe. Anyway, I updated it and when I was ready to restore it I accidentally messed around and clicked iCloud and somehow it may have backed up the newly updated phone which had nothing. I had nothing saved on iCloud because even though it was logged in I never backed up there cause it was just 5gigs of memory. So now I think I may have lost that last backup from yesterday. My phone is pretty much empty now and I'm going crazy. Any ideas? Is it possible to get back my last back up or no? * +

Click restore iphone then you will be given a list of dates of all your previous back ups, select the one you want * +

Yes, the one I did yesterday doesn't seem to appear in the drop down list. And the latest other one was March, however, I tried it to no avail. The supposed backup was nothing, took about a minute and that's crazy.
Thing is, I didn't know if at anytime I could go in and get a previous backup and it actually works. Apple woman on the phone didn't clarify.
Luckily someone helped me and I was able to get my contacts, notes, calendars, back..but not my messages nor other general settings. (Dislike) * +

But you shouldn't lose anything during update of ios, iTunes only suggests for a backup in case something goes wrong during the update, so there shouldn't have been a need to restore the phone after an update, have you tried to sync or restore the phone with icloud backup and see if the list contains your last backup before the update? * +

And how did someone manage to get your contacts notes etc back? * +

Oh, he's whizzy and told me what to do so I got certain things back, apparently saved on my email.
I had to do a restore because my phone was acting weird, probably over the capacity type issues. So I did the update then attempted the restore.
Turned out the dates I was looking on for last back ups didn't quite match- date and time were way off so that sorts confused me. I managed to play around and found just the backup I'd wanted. It's sorted now. Thanks. *
