You can update but you'll lose your jailbreak and there hasn't been one released yet for iOS 6 * +

if you got cracked apps and that then you will need a pc to install and you can't use your back up to. * +

There is a jailbreak out for ios6 but it's rather unstable and you need to ssh Cydia onto your device. * +
