I just did it for my gf and got the latest ver but every time I try to activate it ,it says your iPhone could not be activated because the activation sever is unavailbleand sim server says no service ? What did this all mean ? Thanx * +

was it jailbroken? if so take it to your nearest dodgy dave and he will fix it for you..probably set you back about 20..thats what i had to do with mine when i foolishly tried updating mine even though i had been told not to * +

For some reason the bassband is 06.15.00 and updated to ver 5.1 and won't go past the activation screen ? I've been told it can't b fixed, is this true ?... * +

sounds like it's IMEI blocked, jailbreaking will get it working but it'll be UK network blocked. * +

you should of used tinyunbrella to save your ssh files then you could revert back *
