A cross means they are not available in .mp4 which is the version your phone plays. The red cross indicates only the .flv (flash video) is available and apple have a disagreement with adobe and cannot use the flash video standard. * +

I've never faced such situation to be honest. For me 9 out of 10 would play in the native YouTube app. * +
