Friend of mine is selling his 40gb ps3 for only 40 pounds... I won't mind buying it.. I already have ps3 slim but I may buy his and put it in my bedroom since slim in living room.. Question is is ylod easy fix? * +

Depends kas,ylod covers just about any possible fault if i remember right. If its the usual heat paste though it will take you a few hours 1st time out,but yeah its quite easy to do * +

Could try lobbing it in a big box facing sideways, run a hair dryer up n down the vents for 20mins, turn off the hairdryer n run a fan on for 20mins, switch on and see if it kicks in, might take couple of times and is supposed to be temp but if it works after that think it'll show it can be fixed and not corrupt software/bluray Also 40's have the fan test if you keep your finger eject as soon as you switch it on via the back, clears the cobwebs lol * +

Not sure Nfx 40's fans used to kick in alot playing the latest games anyway so not so sure how it would effect it, unless its akin to sudden power surge? * +
