Pound to a pinch of there's one main reason for it. During that opening a door sequence it's giving the game time to load in the next section. It aint hard to work out on most games where the deliberate 'pause' in gamplay is to allow that to happen....like the Decon rooms in Deus Ex Human Revolution * +

The best ones were the 2 minute lift rides in ma55 effect 
but then they were reduced to about 20 seconds on my Pc...... * +
