With gears of war 3, rage, driver and other big titles on the market, its easy to forget about the 'little' games that are so neatly tucked away in the digital download market. They may not have the hype of retail but always come up trumps with a reasonable price, plenty of firepower and just as interesting, if not better, then most 40 pound games on the market * +

One such game that lend's its name to such it the aptly named 'renegade ops'. Dont be put off by the poor name of the game because if this game has one major flaw, then its the title. Sega's top downish arcade is pure action, in a nutshell its like cannon fodder meets desert meets metal slug. * +

So what's it about? Well, its about a cheesy comic book type villain named 'INFERNO' who seems quite interested in blowing up cities and has now left his next target in the hands of world leaders. Not content on the idea of a negotiation, a soldier pitches the idea of a more physical approach, when his request is denied,he decides to quit and go freelance. You play one of four renegades, each sporting their own special ability. EMP, Heavy cannon,shield and air strike. Thd game can be played up to four players which adds more fun and is helpful for completing objectives. Three levels of difficulty, casual with infinite lives and no upgrades, normal with 5 lives and upgrades and hard with 3 lives and upgrades * +

As you progress, you earn points to level up, each map sets several objectives like rescue, destroy, protect etc and you sometimes step into other vehicles to defeat the end of level bosses. The game forces you to play carefully as once you lose lives, its game over. The game has rpg elements but is mostly arcade action as you drive, shoot and blow your way through 9 stunning maps. * +

Upgrading your vehicles with different abilities per character. Easy to manuvere vehicles with twin sticks controlling the movement and weapons. Normally i wouldn't pay a tenner and would wait for the sale but the demo had me hooked. A fantastic pick up n play game for those who wanna blow the outta things and drive through wood huts. 8.5/10 *
