Well according to octobers issue of PSM3. The games industry no longer tolerates mediocre games. we all know the read faction franchise has kicked the bucket after the last title. stfu 3 got cancled as soon at the 2nd game flopped. when a game like black ops can sell 1.4 million in the uk on the 1st day and 7 million world wide... what happens to the game that struggle to clear 5 figures? * +

It would be nice thought to be able to walk into a shop, and pick up any game off the shelf and feel safe in the knowledge that it will be a great game even if you've never heard of it before. But aslong as a game sells it doesn't matter how good it is so aslong as mugs buy games because the box looks good they will try it on with broken, buggy, and just downright dire games. * +

plus how will they decide, onre man's trash is another man's treasure, and just because the previous game was a flop doesn't mean with a few tweaks the sequel won't be a best selling smash hit. Interesting topic though * +

Depends how long they can drag on a story these days, thats all that is left. I think transition from the previous incarnations of games has limited new franchises if you take games like streetfighter that was basic - to more characters - stop motion film - then 3d - better graphics. whats left for franchises? except storys.

surely nowadays though its all about the expansion, how many more maps and levels they can add to download to get people paying more for games theyve already completed *
