Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D, an action shooter by Capcom for the Nintendo 3DS. There havnt been many Resident Evil games for portable systems... Infact, only two come to mind: Resident Evil Gaiden, on the GBC and a remake of the original game on the DS. * +

This isnt a traditional Resi game, there is one coming early next year for the 3DS. This is an expansion of the Mercenaries sub-game that has appeared in several games since Resident Evil 3. This is far from a simple minigame, however. This is a fully fleshed out game. It is a score attack game, and if you go into it knowing that, you wont be disappointed. * +

Theres no story to speak of, the first few tutorial missions sort of set the scene. There are over 30 missions to play through, with some EX missions opening up later, and 8 characters to play as (only two playable at the start, with the rest unlocked as you go) they each play differently, with each having their own weapon sets (or loadouts) and their own stats. * +

Each character can equip up to three skills, which can be leveled up with points earned from doing missions. These range from increased healing to extra explosive power for grenades. There are many combinations possibles so its good to experiment with them. * +

If you find a mission may be too difficult for you, you can call in a friend to help you. Missions are playable in Co-op mode over local Wi-Fi or over the internet. There are 50 medals to earn, and a few of these are only possible by playing the Co-op mode. * +

This is another game that show what the 3DS is capable of. Its a lot of fun, and isnt that exactly what games are all about? Theres plenty of action here for those that are looking for it. All of my reviews, are also in my group. * +
