Does any 1 know how to format a hard disk for ps3 please the old hard drive on it is totaly corrupted and cant get any info on sony site thanks * +

While it is off hold down the power b*tton until it turns off again, then hold down the power b*tton again until you hear two beeps, when you hear the two beeps let go of the power b*tton and you will be in recovery mode. You can try to restore the files/folder structure in that menu, if that doesn't work you can format from there. * +

Yh i knw how to do it just upgraded my ps3 from 60gb to 500gb, and i got a external case for the 60gb to put films and music on, you gotta format ya hard drive to read as a fat32 bt if u got vista ya cnt do it off system formatting coz it older formatting setting is fat32 u need to download some software to format it * +

That's for an external drive. The PS3 has it's own file system and you can only format by using the PS3 itself.. * +

Yh i knw that bt also the question does nt state that da hard drive is in ps3 does it and ps3 only detects fat32 format drives * +
