So the Philips liteon DG 16D2S dvd drive in my xbox is ed and keeps scratching all my disks. My mate gave me his broken xbox so I could swap the drives around. This didn't work and would only let me read dvd videos for some reason. I'm guessing this is because I need a drive identical to the original one, but I thought I'd make sure before I buy it, if I buy a new Philips liteon DG 16D2S , will it work? * +

dont you have to copy the original drives id n transfer it to the new drive? i've never done it, but pretty sure i read that somewhere * +

Copy drive ID? U sound like u be on about HDD man. Any, horn, get the exact drive, same brand and model number if u can, should work fine. I've heard that is the best way to fix it. * +
