does anyone know the rights and wrongs about buying games with a plastic seal or rather no seal?got splitsecond from hmv brand new, it didnt come with a plastic seal.got home and there were round scratches on the disc.took it back and asked for a copy with a seal, they claim they dont come with seals.changed it for another unsealed copy but luckly checked the disc.should they have seals? * +

should have seals for this reason exactly. Take it back and tell them, statutory rights say you should get a refund or replacement. * +

I always check the disk before leaving or will check outside the shop, hmv never have sealed games, last time i bought from there i asked for sealed but they said they dont have any sealed. Twice i have checked outside the shop and had to go back in due to scratches. How much did you pay for it? * +

hmv and gamestation usually unseal the games and keep the discs in a draw, depends on the store. atleast they exchanged it though, hmv are usually good for that * +

Depends. Some shops unseal them so they can put the empty boxes on the shelves, some use dummy boxes, some shops even seal games themselves as not all games are delivered factory sealed. But if ya asking is there a law that games have to be sealed, then that's a bit of a daft question..... * +

And what platform? I hate shops that unseal the game, really the game is then second hand. * +
