The most recent release is in Capcom Fighting Collection which has the Arcade versions of DS games + a few other extras. I personally want to see a darkstalkers 4 too. * +

Forgot these games make you want to punch holes into walls. The CPU can see your inputs and launch any move at the flick of a switch and such BS. You need to git gud and have a bit of luck with you like hitting the enemy a few times wait for timer to run out or some other cheese way. In more modern games (4 babies?) this kinda stuff would constitute being at least hard or very hard, but here in Darkstalkers it is just MEDIUM (4/8)! I can feel my arms from wrist to elbow after 1h of this s*it. * +

The games aren't bad, but are fairly relentless even on lower difficulties. This is the kind of stuff i and many grew up with... Without save states and with real coins. Street Fighter II or Street Fighter Alpha from where Darkstalkers is derived from had their own levels of BS. * +

AND beside the base difficulty, there is the difficulty curve too. In short: First enemy is easiest and last is hardest. These were coin eater arcade games after all... In games that had non-linear enemy placement if you got certain ones in certain order and got beaten you knew when to give up and when to try again. * +

1990s arcade games were all pretty hard though even on ''medium'' so Darkstalkers is not alone here. * +
