(repost) There is numerous reports and claims of microSD card slots short-circuiting and 'frying' the installed microSD cards in the process.. with the correlated card slot overheating, melting as well.
Some microSD cards have been rendered unusable and some aren't damaged at all.. leaving the fault squarely on some Nintendo Switch devices..
If this happens to you, don't panic.. Nintendo will try replace this inconvenience with another (might need some proof of device fault however). *
