Do you remember Taito's Continental Circus? That was one of the first proper arcade racers I played, early memory seeing a new cabinet of that in one of the arcades here. Seeing Daytona USA on the model 2 board and then the model 3 machines were amazing, they were miles ahead of console and even PC of that time.

Damn I don't remember that one. I'm old, my first arcade game although not a racer was pac man (LOL) I even had one of them old coleco mini arcade pacmans..
Kind of amazing looking back and to see how far gamings actually came since them days, pc and consoles have come a long way...
Ohhh I hated gaming on pc way back then, you had to write a whole list of commands to just run the game and if you had a typo you had to type it all over again...then the fricken load times and everything was spinach green. omg * +

Nothing beats the king of arcade racers outrun . It still looks incredible today for a game that's over 30 years old . And that music. . * +

I loved Scud Race, shame it never got a console port. I know you can emulate it on a PC, not sure how perfect it is though. I would guess arcade perfect by now.

Scud Race emulates really well on the model 3 emulator, but not quite perfect. Daytona USA 2 comes out a bit better, but the emu is still work in progress AFAIK

Oh and for reference you can get a decent condition 2 player deluxe Daytona USA sit down cabinet for about 1000 pounds. Rip out the old hardware and screens, hook it up to a fairly crappy PC and stick some HD screens in there and you got a sweet home setup (lol) I seen some conversions! * +

Got the demo to see the performance. Got 60fps on high 4k lol. Seems like they fixed the problems. *
