Apparently Microsoft are about to start charge 7 dollars a month for businesses to use windows 10....Hope they aren't idiot enough to do it to consumers * +

That will never happen. If anything windows will be free not to distant future, they can't keep expecting users to pay for their bloated OS * +

Go ahead and download Windows 10 plus the app that allows you to burn an install CD or DVD. They have already released several major updates that makes the GUI easier to use.
One hint, a lot of the problems people have with Windows 10 is because it was in tablet mode instead of desktop mode. * +

how much space should I have free on my drive? I got about 15.5gb free space left. * +

You have plenty of room to download it. I don't think it is more than 4.5 gigabytes, probably half as much.
BTW. After installing you'll have to download all the updates and probably the service packs. Depending on your internet speed, that could occupy several frustrating hours.
Yep, you still have to restart your PC after downloading most updates. * +

I just installed Windows 10 on another partition initially. Best off downloading it and installing win 10 fresh and not actually upgrading and existing installation. * +

That's how I installed Windows 10 when it was first released, I didn't have any driver issues either. That really surprised me because I only have a laptop. * +
