*disclaimer thi isn't meant to start a fanboy war but meh prob will* ...Was having a convo with a mate the other day, bearing in mind he's in his 30's and from the UK, he claimed Mario and Nintendo saved the Gaming industry in the early 80's from the crash but i pointed out it only saved the USA, the rest of the world gaming was thriving with zx,c64,atari and english programers...true? * +

Console gaming was never that big in the UK it started to grow in the MegaDrive and SNES era. So yeah. The 8 and 16 bit computers were bigger than the consoles. I remember havimg the choice between a MegaDrive or an Amiga for my birthday, my 15th I think. I nearly got a MegaDrive, but in the end I decided on the Amiga. Didn't know any console gamers at school. I'd go as far to say consoles didn't really become big here til near the end of the that era when console ports and clones started... * +

...and then the Playstation's arrival killed the 16bit computers completely. If he is from the UK then he must have been a console gamer back then and in the minority. * +

what a load of nonsense . consoles have always been more popular since the NES and master system . Nobody I knew had an Amiga and they were seen as cr*p everyone had a NES or master system then when the snes was released console gaming exploded everyone had one with street fighter 2 and Mario kart , sonic on the mega drive * +

Most people i knew was gaming on the Floppys/tapes or trying to be home programers with those Giant binders full of codes that came with them lol How old are you popcap? because before the Nes/master system home computer gaming was in full flight and churning out decent games like mad, what i can recall Nes and Master system came out but was steady for a year then the 90's *it with the Megadrive, then the SNES came out was just about the best system out by then but * +
