To be honest I don't rate them, it's all about the effects and the use of cgi and they turn to extreme violence more often which doesn't make a good horror film, they're more like exploitation movies and a lot now are glorifying serial killers. Horror films used to be about atmosphere and little jumps like it took you on a ride. And the effects were done by mechanical means which gave them more realism. Modern horror films aren't really about scares these days it's all about shocking you *
