Thought I'd bring this existing conversation over and continue it in a separate topic. Was saying how basically the Simpsons went from world's greatest cartoon to a stale show (which is still miles better then family guy). * +

I got the boxsets 1-14. you can really see the change of the show happening in the 9th season. the art switched from hand to computer and the voices tightened, but this wasn't for the better, stories became harder to think up and celebrities were shamelessly touted on every show in an attempt to boost ratings. * +

what killed the Simpsons was the change in artwork and the introduction of far far too many celebrities. in the old episodes they used celebrities but had them play other roles other then themselves, john goodman playing the leader of a motorcycle gang, Kelsey Grammar as sideshow bob, jon lovitz as the critic, Phil hartman as lionel hutz and troy maclure, in fact, I'd go as far to say the show began to stale after hartman's death as we lost two fantastic characters * +

don't get me wrong, I'll still buy the boxsets and watch the show but I just think the golden age has long passed. most people say series 1-6 were the finest, I personally think series 2-8 were my favourite. they were still finding their feet in the first season but by series 4 the show opened up some great characters but I think matt groening should stick with futurama as that is brilliant * +

got the complete boxset of futurama years ago and then they bring out new episodes not that im complaining, the new ones are great so far. * +
