I remember after he stopped doing mostly light comedies in the early 90s being a little disappointed but by the end of the 90s he had impressed me greatly with his open performances, great range, accessibilty and sheer likability. He really is the James Stewart of his generation. A great movie star. All expectations of Tom Hanks entertaining me with a mermaid or a dog etc are long since banished. * +

He has become an actor who stamps every project he performs in with quality performances and a guarantee of that in his films regardless of its merit. Not bad for a chap who used to be a kid in a 30 year olds body. * +
