This may sound silly but might work take your battery and sim out them get some toiletroll and pore a lil aftershave on it dont soak it just damp then use it to clean the metal pins where sim goes into phone and the metal strips on the sim and leave it for atleast 5 mins to dry coz the alcohol in the aftershave should clean quite alot of muk off so you gett a better contact with pins and sim :) * +
