Is it common for the joystick thing on sony ericssons 2 go wrong and malfunction? * +

its very common. my w800i joystick had problems so dis is what i did. i often rotated the joystick clockwise 5 times and then rotated it anticlockwise another 5 times. pressed the joystick centre b*tton down 5 times and then just blew air into the joystick housing..sorta like a joystick exercise! after several sessions my joystick works 100z now! now faults anymore! * +

Jus tried that trick and it seems 2 av sorted it 4 now. Bin havin major probs with the joystick on my k800i and only had it 2wks. Lets hope it fixed itself. If it plays up again im takin the thing bk. I expect better of sony ericsson tut. * +

Thanx junad4u. I posted a simular topic a while bk. I had a k750i which had same fault so i upgraded the circuit board inside 2 a w800i but just recently startd havin the same fault. Followd ur advice an is now working fine. Cheerz mate. * +

Ye do wat these guys say, or get a W810 or a W900 they dnt use Joysticks, so they much beta ta use, no problemz * +

k750i, w800i and k800i use the exact same joystick mechanism. so interchanging them makes no difference... sonyericsson made a habit of making new phones with old components.. and yes the w810 is best because it has a 5-way navigation key.. sonyericsson say its dust that hamper terminal contact within the joystick housing..i think its a sony disaster * +

Duno if it dust cos my fone 2wks old but thanx 4 the advice my fone bin fine all day and i was just bout 2 take it back!. Must have loosened up the contact points was prob just sticking. * +
