Yes but you can back up messages and contacts ans stuff with myphone explorer (if your computer has vista you need to add myphone explorer to the dep, install file and startup file) * +

Flashing the phone is a total reinstall of the phone's firmware, upgrading it is only partially installing it (updating the needed bits), you do sometime's get a full reinstall from the update service tho, but you either have to trick it into it, or have a REALLY extinct firmware version, and if you know how to trick it into it, then you basicly know how to flash (or atleast you should). * +

As it require's changing the phone's CDA, the trick was originall thought up to safely convert K750 to W800 for people that didnt know low to flash, but the modded SEUS program is out of date now (that tricked SEUS for you), so you have to manually change CDA, NOTE: cannot use the trick to flash K800 to K810, well it probably can but never been tried i font think as you would loose keypad lights. *
