yep you can, go to Settings, Connectivity, then Network or Service (totaly for got what its calld bt its in Connectivity) set it to GSM Only. * +

My 3g keeps coming and going and freezes my phone every blood time it does it. I gotta keep going offline when it does, its a pain in the arris. Mind, its good when its working properly * +

Look in main menu/settings/connectivity/mobile networks and it should say something like 3G/GSM Networks, click on that and you have the option to switch between 3G and GSM, thats on the newer models but im guessing it'll be the same on w900 also. * +
