because... uhm ... even though a blackberry is like a computer its not a computer. The new OS was designed for newer hardware with capabilities best suited for it. So thats why you can't have os7 on a phone designed to run os6. Furthermore you can't put os6 on an os7 phone. The architecture is so tightly build that blackberry leaves little room to even mess around with such. * +
