plus you could always tune the mclaren up further, but theveyron would be difficult to extract more power, and difficult to lose a lot of weight too i suspect with the AWD system * +

imagine , ditching the 90s brakes and suspention and gear box for modern replacements . evo mag did a groupe test , mac f1, veyron, zonda, f40, nsx type r and carrera gt. and they said the mac f1 engine was the greatest they have ever driven . what was it ? bmw lemans engine ? * +

i doubt the custom BMW unit is beyond tuning. essentially the race units had very little done to them, to produce 680BHP without restrictors on the LM version. F1 was just a masterpiece, the fact that it won le mans easily is amazing. ok, its a very special road car, but it was designed as a road car and converted to race. it beat purpose built racing prototypes FFS!!! * +

627 to 680bhp. doesnt sound like a lot, but its about ten percent. and adds small chunk onto the power per weight ratio. i would say it would even have been enough to fend of the veyron over a mile. the gap wasnt much * +
