A motorist should know about cars.my dads friend took his hilux to check the shocks at the local kwik fit and they said they damaged,so he took it to another fitment centre and they checked his shocks and nothing was wrong with them! * +

What basic mechanics should a motorist know to avoid being ripped off?i would say except knowing how to change a tyre and checking oil and water but my friend dnt even know how to do that yet his dad is a qualified diesel mech! * +

but keep this in mind sash,we live in a very dead section so the businesses wil do anything to get money flowing into their company including lying to u about your product. i've been ripped off for my pc a couple times before wen i knew nothing about pc's. we gave this guy 9k for a pc an it turns out the pc was selling at games for 4500. this was a few years back but old habits die hard. lol * +

Thanx fo touching this topic shash. I tink its very important for the know.nuthin motorist to take notice. I get to do wit it everyday of ma life. Sumtimes ppl wud c*m to our workshop askin me to top d wiperwasher water up.. Several woman hav calld d breakdwn coz d car is standin sumwher witout fuel! I can carry on! In tough economic time wher labour nd spares are hectic, i wudve empower maself.. * +

..by learning sum general facts bout d car i own. If a know.nuthin motorist atleast get to know general setups of a car, they wudnt get rippd off like sum ppl i know of. 1 guy had to pay fo replacement of upper nd lower controlarms on a mk1 golf!.. Another lady hd complete props haft replaced on her fwd renault.. U cud get charged for replacin a hi presure fuelpump whilst ur car is carbfed etc etc. * +

Lol most of my dads customers in the locations run their diesel vehicle without doing service then when the motor packs up they park it off or fork out thousands for a rebuild * +
