Sounds more like ignition to me,which is usually a more instant/abrupt power loss. I can see Yugo's thinking behind the fuel filter,trapped air bubbles could cause momentary fuel starvation,but the carbs reservoir would cater for this. Still,a fuel filter is best mounted vertically instead of horizontally. * +

To prime is kinda like oiling but in the case of fuel filter you fill it up with fuel so as to not get any air bubble trapped in the filter itself, as Mikey explained above about fuel starvation... 1 of the major problems injector vehicles encounter when having air trapped in the fuel line is that it wont start, and can cause hiccups... * +

Dude get your timing checked, also your Bougi cords and Distributor checked... Your problem lays there, in those 3 things! Distributor, timing and cords *
