Most manufacturers use ids. Its integrated diagnostic system. Its nt capable of remapping d car pcm or ecu bt it can upgrade software in d pcm. To change a standard pcm map configuration, ul hav to add a chip that override sum settings on d ecu. Therfore they call it a piggyback chip. On diesels u get d plug.n.play chips wich brings slight changes in d injectorpumps advance nd stuff bt mk a bg dif * +

Or you can use software that adjusts the actual ecu, piggy back chips can cause conflicts as they are in effect forcing the ecu to miss read settings etc. Most remaps are done via the tech2 diagnostic port and it is literally plug in a lap top with the correct software and you can talk to the ecu adjusting parameters to impote fuel economy or performance * +

If its an audi/vw/skoda turbo diesel dont go 2 mad if remapping as it tends 2 cause excesive turbo wear n they dont last long * +
