U wil save alot ov petrol driving in neutral but u wont get much ov a chance 2b honest, maybe 3 miles worth out ov 600 miles! My diesel vw tdi will easily do 600 with 60 litres, but my lexus ur lucky to get 300 miles with 60 litres! * +

Vw is diesel 1.9 tdi, lexus is200 is 2.0 24v petrol...lexus is a much better + comfy drive but costs twice as much 2 run in fuel * +

right ppl Mr Clarkson done this on top gear. He drove from london to edinburgh and back on one tank of fuel. HE NEVA FREE WHEELED IN NEUTRAL !! But wot he did do was free wheel in gear which doesnt use any fuel at all because its your gearbox drivin your engine. All those ppl out there wiv mpg gauges give it a try !! * +

I don't think realityy was referring to you jem it was to sharkie4 because he pointed out that the car still needs to idle and realityy agreed with him and pointed out to the post writer that having the engine idle still uses fuel! So even saying keeping car in gear and foot off accelerator will still use fuel, little but it will still be used! * +
