It's not that fast, you're just old. I drove a Golf R which is basically the same thing, thought it was really good and would be a great car to own but it's still not immensely fast. It probably can't beat a Leon 280 or Megane Trophy for thrills. It's the 4WD that makes it sure footed in poor conditions.

Most recent thing I drove I was impressed with was a BMW 335i that had relatively minor mods on it. It had about 400bhp and 420lb/ft torque. It was quite fast off the line, but the midrange punch was outstanding. Faster than the V8 M3 up to a point, at least in a straight line. Quite fancy one now.

It was a 5 door M sport. The Coupe undeniably looks better, but the 5 door is just the most practical thing and a real stealth bullet. They aren't even that expensive now either. Maybe I'm old now too as the practicality sorta clinched it for me lol

this. youre definitely too old bob lol.gif that must be it * +

I totally agree with Bob, it's like the fast licence has been given to idiots.

I'd much rather be driving an MG Midget on a twisty muddy road - probably wouldn't get 40mph out of it but it'd be driver's skill all the way from one drift to another.

Our cities are ridiculous now. Traffic lights on roundabouts because giving way to the right is no longer enough (uk). Cars come around the bends too quick, blind junctions are a question of crossing fingers - not even any point looking to see if anythings coming before you pull out, it'll be past you before you're halfway out even if there was nothing there.

The more effortlessly, quietly, comfortably quicker they make them, the quicker people drive. Power to the fingertips of people who have had a hard day at work and need to let off steam..

Cars have lost the plot. Or have they? Is it all a big set-up to convince us to accept robot controlled cars..?

My car weighs nothing, has a relatively high amount of power anyway, but the little fwd thing struggles against some of the latest vans on slippery roads!

Just no need. Bring back the days where those going quickly had to earn it with some driver skill. * +
