i bought an import engine. fitted the engine and find there is no place for the fuel pump. fitted an electronic fuel pump but the car starts and idle a few minutes then jst dies. the fuel pump is very hot and stop pumping fuel. any help will ne appreciated guys. * +

maybe incorrect voltage or pump overworked as its too small? * +

when you say no place for fuel pump , do you mean mounting points ? voltage its gonna be a 12v pump , size could be the problem but that would not equate to heat. you really need that fuel pump fitted, so find a suitable place and a welder to fashion a new bracket for the unit. better still have a look for a VW jetta forum, them guys would have ran into these problems already * +

new pump is fitted. works well. prob was the brand new pump i bought. * +

not sure why there's no place for an original fuel pump. All engines of that age should have a mechanical fuel pump. Is the pump adjustable? Could be pumping at the wrong pressure * +
