Why are they not recalling all these 2.2 diesels with faulty clutch/flywheel. numerous going in under 30k facepalm * +

Lol! That 'issue' has been around since 2006 when the 8th gen made its appearance. I a55 ume you've only recently had this issue yourself? According to Honda it's not a fault however there are too many with the same issue but not all cars have had it. I've heard more complaints re paint, handbrake and 3rd gear in the FN2 than heard issues with the clutch. * +

Probably because they can claim wear and tear. It'll save them a bunch of money over a recall. Its not really gonna be wear and tear after like 25k it'll be a design flaw but its just about long enough for honda to make their excuses. You know like the pinto? Its cheaper just to take on those who moan about it than do a full recall * +

No ive only recently known about it because i was thinking of buying one, sorry for not being up to date with every 'issue' of every car ever made facepalm * +

Well if you've been researching on civic related forums especially the ones dedicated to the 8th gen then these topic which highlight the issue have started many years ago. However a lot of people don't bother reading the pages upon pages and skip straight to the end and see the comments posted not realising it's been around a long time. However as I've already pointed out it hasn't effected every model it's been a good few but not enough for them to merit a recall. I know of people who'v * +

Who've had over 100k out of the car and no issues. One person has 3 of them as a learner cars for his driving school and has clocked up that amount of mileage in less than a year and no clutch issues. So maybe you need to do a little more 'research' before you can call for a recall * +

I dont see how it can be model related as surely all the models with the same engine would surely have the same clutch and flywheel, its models that dont sell as well that would obviously have lower 'issues' * +

You need to go do your research. The 8th gen civic has been yet again a very popular model. There is only 4 engines available in the hatch, the 1.4, 1.8 2.0l petrol and the 2.2 d. The 2.2 is a very popular option due to the fact people buy it for economy and it can be chipped for better performance. As I've said it's not that much of an issue based on how many models have been sold in the 2.2 and how many have had an 'issue'. The 2.2 is classes as model in the range and yes it doesn't * +
