Hey went to garage today and my thermo turns out to work fine. Only problem is my water from rad dnt seem 2 travel up 2 xpansion tank! Finkin either cap is faulty or radiator needs flushed as took coolant hose out and its fine. Any ideas? * +

Hmmm, even if had not enough coolant, doesn't explain water not going to rad? If cap was faulty, it'd just leak under pressure, so top up coolant n see if that helps, but as said, above maybe water pump gone? As may explain water not going to rad, but, I'd fill it, and for sake of 6 quid, fit new thermostat,n see if helps, once car up to temp, feel pipes n if cold, squeeze them to see if moves * +

Water into rad? But don't use car till sort this out, ps, is it blowing White smoke out exhaust? Take off oil cap n check for milky residue n oil in water? As may be using water in cylinders - gasket gone. But it eradicate bits at a time, start with thermo, as how did garage know it works without it opening into rad or taking out? * +

Thermostat kicks in and u can feel the heat travel into rad and also out the opposite hose. Everyfin runs like clockwork even took coolant hose off expansion tank n seems to get water dribblin out when hot just doesnt go into xpansion tank wen connected. And the expansion cap itself makes a noise as if air is escapin. Undid that and the water flowed as it shud thats why am finkin cap?:/ * +

Sounds like maybe, as should hold pressure, expansion tank is simply a backup amount, that the rad uses when short on water when pipes expand n need more water to fill etc, so when cold, top up with coolant/dionised water, 149, from tesco for 2.5 ltres, n if hissing, go get a new cap n see if that solves it all * +
