Hi got a r reg corsa capital1.4 with 55 k on clock. My temp gauge is up at 100 after just 5 mins of driving the engine is very hot but the radiator is cold, till i turn engine off then it seems to go warm is that normal for radiator to do that. Also fan does not come on but dnt knw if that works off rad iator. So im finkin blockage sumwhere or the thermostart or fan is broke. Any tips. Thanks:) * +

Sounds like thermostat mate, as it waits for engine temp to reach approx 88c then opens to allow water through to rad, rad has a switch of which should be set around 90c so when hits this, fans switch on till temp drops water to 88-90c normal temp:) so, pop to Eurospares or like, n won't cost u much, but do extract/fit with engine cold:) * +

Ps, incase not clear, ur fans won't come on, as thermostat fked/stuck, so won't allow water into rad, hence no heat for rad switch to come on, only cost approx 6quid for thermostat tho, take reg , or take faulty thermostat to factors, as will give exact opening n closing temps :) * +

Thanx mate top notch advice thats xactly what i thought;) just checked the hose that connects the rad 2 the thermostat housing and it is warm up to the bend bout 2 inch from the rad but squezed hose and dnt feel like theres a blockage finkin it mite just be the heat build up frm the hot coolant trien to pa55 by the thermo? Its defo nt goin in2 rad tho! What you fink mate? Cheers 4 the help:) * +

Na, that'll just be heat transferred by hot engine bay n rubber, def sounds like thermostat, so once cold, take it out, should be about 17-20 mm long socket, n keep an eye out for a rubber washer if one? N take to motor factors n say car /engine etc n show thermostat n they'll sell u right one around 6 or so quid, refit, run engine to normal temp n see if rad gets hot once hits around 88-90.don't * +

No idea mate, I've got a maserati, but mine is about 2inches from throttle body, in left hose comin out of engine, so can't help u there, but if can get to it without cover off, do it, n no need to drain coolant, as it's higher than rad, so won't leak:) * +
