I got a 92 model ford laser 1.3lt which has a mazda b3 engine. Recently my gearbox packed up, the right side inner cv popped out of the gearbox, we placed it back in and it spins but as soon as we put force to hold the cv in, it stops spinning and the gearbox makes a noise.. About a week ago i got a 2nd hand gearbox and we put it in, but the wheels are still not spinning, i currently got the car jacked up in front, the right hand side cv does spin but only when i press the clutch in, when releas * +

releasing clutch it stops, and the left hand side doesnt spin at all. A friend told me it could be clutch and pressure plate but when the cv popped out of the old box we could hear the gearbox spinning when putting car into gear and releasing clutch. So i doubt its the clutch and pressure plate. Im guessing the gearbox i bought is broken aswell. Any help much appreciated. * +

When in air both wheels should spin as slip diff, but if not, that sounds iffy , won't be clutch etc as * +

Could put in gear n start engine n see wat happens, my guess is maybe cv joint as if not in spiggit properly will lock up * +

Was thinking it could be the cv aswel, but it spins only when clutch is pressed in. As soon as i release clutch it stops. Also left hand side does not spin at all. * +

Eerrr,but dont most front wheel drives pull 1 wheel?hence toque steer?if a car is on a lift,whether its fwd/rwd should ratate wheel in this situation?might be the druve s haft thats gone?get it checke out mate. * +
