I usually drive at low rev(1500-2000rpm). I thaught I was pampering my engine till my mate told me I was killing it. Is it true? It's a 2l turbo. * +

Too low rpms are bad. You must keep the revs on the peak of torque curve. Your fuel will be used efficiently. Also in low rpms the oil doesn't get much pressure so your turbo may be unhappy with that * +

Diesel engines usually have the torque curve between 1500-2500 rpms. If it's a petrol engine you must rev it a bit harder, try keeping the revs between 2000-3000. * +

So why car manufacturers allow automatic cars to shift at low rev if it bad for their engine? I also drive a merc b cla55 turbo, in confort mode it always shifts at 2000rpm! Whith its seven gears the cruise is always low rpm. * +

you have the answer yourself-comfort mode. Stick it in sports mode if it has one. Lot depends on the car, some engines have their torque at low revs, some you need to rev higher. 2lit turbo? Petrol or diesel? If petrol, i wouldn't think you are getting the turbo spinning up that low. When you change up, it should pull strongly in the higher gear. * +

I got my answer thanks. I see why I couldn't hear the turbo's whistle below 2000. From now it will be 3000 an up. So if you wana look after your engine, forget about the fuel consumption and play the music. * +
