What is in your opinion is the correct way to run in a motor? Do you firmly believe in the 1000km (sumtimes more) take it easy route. Or are you the type that say treat it from the start as its always going to be treated. Or maby you think, what didnt seat and seal in the first heat cycle simply will never seal? This subject is always debated. * +

with a modern engine, i've been told never run it in otherwise the rings don't bed themselves in properly. Don't over rev or strain it, just drive normally. But change the oil and filter after 500 miles. * +

Im old school in a way on this subject. I agree with campa, drive the car with some respect for a while, a while being less than a frikkin 1000km. * +

This one chap put an s50b30 motor in an e30 he was advised by a bmw tuner to run it in for 5000km before he can take it to 7000rpm * +

prob quite different for cars and bikes. But my bikes i run in by gentle riding up to operating temp, stop, let cool for half hour, repeat that heat cycle 4 times, then fairly easy riding till 200km odo reading, dump and change oil+filter, then ride the guts out of it. 2stroke top end rebuilds at 50hours. Im on my first 4stroke 450cc and i don't plan on doing the top end before 100hr unless it blows up * +
