okay, got a datsun 120y 4 speed manual ive been driving for a couple of months. in the last month, ive noticed that occasionally, it will not let me shift into reverse despite the fact im pressing the clutch all the way down. if i let go of the clutch, and press it again, it will go into reverse, but only after a cringe inducing CRUNCH!!!. what do you reckon? fked trans? ed clutch? * +

try clutch in , slot into 4th then out of 4th to revers . worked for me when i had the problem , so much so i do it in cars that dont have that problem out of habbit * +

the tvr wouldnt go into reverse without a screaming fight , but slotted perfect 4th then into reverse * +

Nutin to do wit clutch or syncro or datsun badge watsoever! Its simple.. Ur forward gears are all helical cut nd syncromeshd.. D reverse is straight cut nd d idlergear that engage revers is straight cut too! So sumtimes it jst happens that d tooth catches each otha up nd then d mains haft jst needs to move a wee bit fo d idler to engage. Al u hav to do is jst depress d clutch a second time or.. * +
