Hey im 19 and have past my driving test about 8months now ... Im looking into buying an mr2 and putting it on classic insurance... I know that you have to be over 25 but my dad will insure it and have me as 2nd driver, is this possible and will it be overly expensive even tho its classic... Thanks * +

may not be allowed to have under 25 as second driver. Best to check with the insurer. You won't get no claims bonus as a named driver so you will lose out anyway * +

I'm 21 and paying 880 for full comprehensive cover with auto and general. Was quite suprised cuz the cheapest quote i got besides that was 1500 so no one has been able to beat it yet * +

So it's going to be your car and your going to drive it mostly? That's actually fraud and against the law. If you have an accident most insurance companies now ask for proof that the main driver is just that by providing recipts for fuel, also the car would have to be registered to your dad otherwise they'd just refuse to insure it with you as a named driver because they'll know excatly what your * +

Upto. There is a reason young, inexperianced drivers are charged what they are especially for cars like that. If you can't afford to insure it yourself then you'd be better buying something else, building up a no claims and then get something more powerful later on. It's hard but it won't be long until you can get something more powerful and cheaper insurance * +

Mr2's are not powerful cars, the turbo versions are however the Non turbo versions are fine, im not a boy racer just a guy with a passion for engineering and cars ... Its just annoying that all the young s have no preception of speed or consideration that makes gen guys suffer... I guess il research a little further * +

If u get urself a smaller car for nw get ur own policy n no claims. Wen ya turn 21 if ya shop around ya hav a chance of gettn the add on of 3rd party cover in any car so long a its already insured. Get yr da t hav d mr2 bought n insured in his name n den u cn drive it without bein mentioned on any paperwork relatin to dat car. I hav dat on my policy n its dead handy! * +
