me either. but there are apparent rouge programs that keep android awake. its a 2.3.3 bug. advance task killer has worked wonders for me battery life has been extended bigtime and that's with heavy usage! * +

If all apps had an exit option you wouldnt need a task killer. To provide an exit option is such a basic function. But its the app programmers that are at fault there rather than the android platform itself. * +

i think app programers wanted to run their programs in background mainly because they get paid by ads loading in their apps and also that running service will not effect perfomance just battery will drain * +
