Firstly, I'll start off with saying I don't profess to know to much about current handsets and firmwares etc. Was still using an Ericsson W595 until I upgraded to an x10 mini pro in November there, pure randomness choice on the day. What I have learned is that x10 and the mini came shipped with android 1.6 in June, (bit primitive I would have thought), August or there abouts? Understandable that people are up in arms about keeping their handsets up to date for as long as possible. Personally * +

Hi Arty. have you updated to 2.1? SE will still release FW updates to improve performance, improve features and add new ones, so its not all doom-and-gloom, they have delivered all that they said they would so far. There are sum devs at XDA Devs working on a custom 2.2 ROM and cracking the bootloader for the X10 family, so we have sum things to luk forward to. Whilest we wait... * +

You can root your X10mini and mod it, there's a lot you can do, browse through here: http://is.gd/adtrsF .So far ive rooted my X10i and installed JIT Compiler, so it runs faster and gets performance boost in apps and games that 2.2 brings, you can also do UI mods etc...go wild lol, just go through the X10mini forum at XDA. * +

the Windows 7 boys are getting a huge update this year, lets see how many will be forced to root their devices to get the latest update (tea) * +

Yep, they are getting copy/paste, custom ringtones, multitasking, turn-by-turn nav amongst other basic things we have had for years 
a huge update indeed. * +
