Try putting it in airplane mode or turn the data off for accelerated charging. Generally the last few percents your charger switches back to trickle mode to prevent over charging. * +

Are you on a Sony? I remember my Xperia X10 did that, its down to Manufacturer, on some phones the Green light comes on at 90percent to say that its fine to disconnect, and some at 100percent to say its done charging. * +

I think it's most phones now. It most probably means it's fine to charge up to the 90's and don't have to go up to 100 * +
