that's true but it's loading times you need to compare. if a phone is almost up there with a laptop that's got x3 the memory that's pretty bloody good * +

We are truly at that point where phones are more powerful than they need to be.

A Galaxy S4 is still a powerful smartphone. Most flagships from 2012 and up are still more than capable, I see quite a few S4s, S5s, Note 3s and Note 2s around.

With the Note 6 rumored to have 6GB RAM I do wonder how much further we will go and how soon phones will overtake PCs, at least in RAM, we all know it will happen.

Will never happen lol a pc is in another world. My 3 years old desktop has 16gb. Ppl will be on 128gb when a phone hits that. * +

I'm talking average PCs/laptops here most come with 8GB. * +

They will, it took them farless time to go from 1GB RAM in 2011 to 6GB RAM in 2016. At the rate that Samsung are making breakthroughs in mobile memory chips, 8GB RAM for chips for mobile could be announced late next year.

AFAIK Samsung make more profit in mobile mem and smartphones, for as long as they can milk it they will be spear heading development in both areas. They have shareholders pressuring them and are running out of areas to innovate in. * +
